Various methods of myopia progression control have been studied with varying success rates. Vision One Eyecare provides orthokeratology, low-dose Atropine drops, and multifocal contact lens myopia management treatments. The following data presented are patient cases from Vision One Eyecare.
Orthokeratology – Custom hard contact lenses designed to be worn at night that gently reshapes the cornea while sleeping. This will give the patient clear vision during the day without the need for glasses or contacts. Table 1 presents a patient with a stable axial length of 25.65 mm with ortho-K treatment.
Low-Dose Atropine Drops – Safe drops that have been effective against the development of myopia. This low concentration is only one drop daily at bedtime. Table 2 shows a patient with high refractive error before atropine treatment. After starting low-dose atropine drops, the patient’s refractive error and axial length are stable.
Soft Multifocal Contact Lenses – Soft contact lenses worn during the day that will give the patient clear vision and work against increasing myopia. This patient on multifocal contact lenses starts to stabilize in their refractive error and axial length.
